Units within units, and streams with a direction.

Biological treatment is several aeration trains, and each train has an anoxic zone and an aeration basin. Return sludge, waste sludge, air and chemicals are each their own stream, with a clear from and to.

02 · Physical view

Building, position, equipment, and its parts.

A position is the fixed installed location, like “RAS pump 1”. The equipment installed there has its own composition: pump, motor, coupling.

03 · Position and equipment

The pump changes. The position and both histories stay.

In March 2026 pump A went to the workshop for an overhaul and pump B was installed at the same position. The position’s history continues unbroken, and each pump carries its own history with it.

The pump position stays put; the pump in it may change. Each keeps its own history.

05 · Measurement points

What is measured, where, and in what unit.

Each measurement point belongs to exactly one unit, stream, position or piece of equipment. Manual readings are first-class; a data source, if there is one, is mapped to the point explicitly.

06 · QR tags

Scan the tag and the record opens.

Printed tags go on equipment, positions, measurement points or store shelves. A scan only finds the record; what the person can do stays exactly what their access allows.

07 · Classification and criticality

Group, class, type, and the operational criticality of each position.

Equipment classification has three levels. Operational criticality belongs to the position, not the pump that happens to be there today, because it comes from what that position does in the process.

Connections

Where this connects

The plant model is the context for all the work: work orders target a position or equipment, readings belong to measurement points, and failures are recorded with their effect on the process.

Common questions

What if our equipment codes are different?

Keep your own codes. Waiotech takes the code from you and only checks it is unique within its category; the codes on this page are just samples.

Do we have to redraw our drawings?

No. Upload the P&ID or site layout you already have as an image or PDF, and place points on it that link to records. Later versions of the drawing are added as new revisions.

What’s the difference between a position and equipment?

A position is the fixed installed location, like “RAS pump 1”. Equipment is the machine itself, which can be replaced, sent to the workshop or installed elsewhere. Each has its own history, and they are linked.

If someone recommended Waiotech to you, the next step is a short conversation.

Tell us about your plant and how you work today, and we’ll show you Waiotech on work like yours.
